The goal of this project was to design a brand for a craft brewery through producing branded deliverables including a logo, beer labels, one 6-pack, advertisements, and a homepage for the brewery.
Executive Branch Brewing Co. is styled with the former American Presidents, with a side of 19th-century editorial cartoon. The brand takes a look at history and adds a cheeky play on words with beer. There are four designed flavors based on former Presidents including Abe Lincoln, Richard Nixon, John Adams, and Lyndon B. Johnson.
I have produced a few different illustrations. Most times I draw in a loose cross hatching form.
An illustration is used to create emotion or give a message. It is expressive in style and doesn’t demand attention. Illustrations are used in books, magazines, advertisements, comic books, cartooning, fashion design, storyboards, and video games. There is no single way of illustrating, and there are many illustration styles.
The objective of this project was to create a conceptual cover and editorial feature for Au Courant Magazine. The magazine's featured article examines how smartphones are being destructive to the younger generation. The concept of my illustrations was to create ironic imagery. I wanted to represent how our functionality is so dependable on such technology based on a time period where you would find it strange. The characters are illustrated in a 60’s fashion to give that sense of humorous shock factor of how times have changed.
I had the pleasure of creating save-the-dates.
It is the first step of a couple: Send save-the-date cards to your guests! This pre-invitation card announces your wedding date and location, and also lets guests know that they will, in fact, be invited to the celebration.
Fine art is about an idea, a message, or an emotion that I, as the artist, want to have conveyed in my work. The idea or message may be something small, a single word such as abandon, or it may be a whole statement.
Commercial photography involves taking photos that effectively capture the needs and communicate the ideas of their clients.
In commercial photography, you're photographing a product and saying, “Here it is!” As an advertising photographer, you're still selling a product or service, but you're using your pictures to tell a story that gives that product or service greater appeal.
In the end, I wanted to show my body of work exhibiting my ideas, subjects and techniques.
Prohibition, a film by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick, is a 3-disc documentary set that encompasses the events of the prohibition. The objective of this packaging project was to redesign the existing packaging of the documentary.
The objective of this packaging project was to design a brand for The Downtown Dozen Donuts and Coffee and cohesive to-go food packaging products. The Downtown Dozen Donuts and Coffee is located in a college town and was designed to reach this targeted demographic by utilizing a retro style. The Downtown Dozen Donuts and Coffee to-go food packaging include a dozen donut box, single container, cups, and napkins.
In this assignment, I created a logo for an assigned company based on two separate ideas. This combination of forms challenged me to be both conceptual and “designedly” as I constructed something new from two very different and unconnected forms. When creating my mark I had to think about shapes and where connections can be established but, remember the individual things themselves still need to be understandable on their own.
In this assignment I was to replicate a Joseph Cornell box using photoshop.
Joseph Cornell is one of the most celebrated American exponents of Surrealism, explorer of the imaginary and creator of small worlds in boxes.
Working with found objects, pages from old books, and dime-store trinkets, self-taught artist Joseph Cornell transformed everyday materials into extraordinary universes. He invented visual poems exploring themes as varied as the night sky, the romantic ballet, glamorous movie stars, and bird habitats.
Like Joseph Cornell I found objects, letters, and trinkets to form my box. My theme was based on losing a family member, and the impact that person left.
This assignment was to create a brochure on Laura Knight for the Getty Museum.
It is an informative paper document that can be folded into a pamphlet. This brochure was primarily used to introduce the artist, and her works about women during the war.
This was a speed problem that came in two parts. The first was to create a web ad for Unicef 2018 and the second was to animate the ad. I chose to use adobe photoshop animations. You can see how the initial sketch transformed into the final result.
